Radio frequency energy has a relatively low intensity which means it is both safer and penetrates more deeply than some other energy sources. The energy is converted into heat just below the surface of the skin (the dermis), where it destroys cellulite, stimulates collagen growth (which removes wrinkles), and liquefies any fat that has accumulated at that depth. The fat is then eliminated through the body's natural processes (the lymphatic system). The RF wave permanently destroys the fat cells and liquefies them further.
Most parts of the body where cellulite or wrinkles develop, or fat accumulates. The popular areas are the face, neck, bra fat, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, flanks (hips) & upper arms.
The patient may experience momentary heat or warmth which normally resolves within minutes. Redness of the skin may appear which would normally disappear within hours. Dry skin may occur which can be healed by using moisturizing cream.
Heating is the only potential discomfort and many people find this warmth to be a pleasant sensation.
Treatments may be safely continued until the desired result is achieved. Many people are happy with 6 – 12 sessions. Good results can be achieved with weekly or 2-week gap in between sessions.
Anyone who is looking to tighten and lift their jowls, neck, cheeks, and forehead is a good candidate. Also, lax skin on the eyelids, a heavy brow, or upper eyelid drooping, as well as lax abdominal skin, upper arm skin, or lax buttocks or thighs or mild to moderate fat bulge may benefit from these treatments. In some cases, we also find patients with superficial acne scars, rough skin texture, and mild to moderate superficial wrinkles can gain improvement with these treatments. You must understand the risks, costs, and time necessary to achieve the full benefit of the procedure(s) and have realistic expectations of the ultimate outcome.
Radio frequency works fine as an independent modality but lasting results are optimized when radio frequency can be integrated with appropriate diet, exercise and with complimentery therapy such as cryolipolysis & lipolytic injections.
